Bangladesh President rejects Mufti Hannan's pardon supplication

Dhaka: Bangladesh Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Sunday said there was no lawful bar to execute capital punishment on aggressor pioneer Mufti Hannan as President Abdul Hamid has rejected the forgiveness supplication, a media revealed.

"There's no danger of activist assault centring the execution of the aggressor pioneer," he included answer to a question.

On March 21, the Supreme Court's Appellate Division discharged the full content of its decision affirming the capital punishments of Harkat-ul Jihad al-Islami Bangladesh (HujiB) pioneer Mufti Hannan and his two helpers.

The offenders were sentenced to death for the death endeavor on Anwar Choudhury, the then British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, amid his visit to Hazrat Shahjalal's sanctum in Sylhet city on May 21, 2004.

The assault executed three people and seriously harmed Anwar.

On December 23, 2008, a Sylhet court sentenced the trio to death and two others to lifetime detainment for their parts in the assault. The High Court maintained the sentences in February 2016.

Hannan was likewise sentenced to death for the 2001 Ramna Batamul besieging, in which 10 people were slaughtered.
