Kumar said that of the existing 80 lakh taxpayers, who have been paying service tax, central excise or value added tax, about 71 lakh have migrated to GST. While the window to migrate from the existing structure to the unified tax regime will be open till July end, Kumar said several may not migrate to the new tax structure as businesses with turnover of up to Rs 20 lakh were exempted from GST.

Government sources said that the GST Council is set to tweak tax rates of a few items, besides bringing in procedural changes.

Kumar added that a 12 hour helpline—operating from 8am to 8pm-- has been set up to assist merchants in uploading their invoices and other data relevant for fresh registration under GST.

नई दिल्ली. कारगिल विजय दिवस के बुधवार को 18 साल हो गए। इस मौके पर एयरफोर्स के एयर चीफ मार्शल बीएस धनोवा ने पहली बार दैनिक भास्कर से जंग के एक्सपीरियंस शेयर किए। उन्होंने बताया कि "मैं उस वक्त 17 स्क्वाड्रन गोल्डन एेरो का कमांडिंग ऑफिसर था। फाइटर प्लेन उड़ाता था। कारगिल जंग में पहला मौका था जब मिग-21 ने पहाड़ी इलाकों में रात के वक्त हमलावर मिशन चलाए। हमारे साथी की शहादत ने दोगुना जोश भर दिया था। हम दुश्मन पर पूरी ताकत से टूट पड़े। जब थमे तो इतिहास रच चुके थे।"

दुश्मन भारतीय इलाके में बंकर बनाकर रह रहा था

- धनोवा ने बताया, "26 मई 1999 की बात है। मैं और तब फ्लाइट लेफ्टिनेंट रहे आरएस धालीवाल ने टाइगर हिल और तोलोलिंग की पहली बार टोह ली थी। मुझे याद है कि जो फोटो हमने खींची थी उसमें दुश्मन यहां-वहां फैला हुआ था और भारतीय इलाकों के पहाड़ों में बने बंकरों में सुरक्षित स्थिति में था। हम दुश्मन के लॉजिस्टिक्स, गोला-बारूद के ठिकानों और कम्युनिकेशन लाइन को टारगेट करना चाहते थे, ताकि वह भूखा मर जाए या मजबूरन हमारे इलाके से कब्जा छोड़ दे।"

- "हमारेे ऑपरेशन पर काफी पाबंदियां थीं। हमें एलओसी पार करने की इजाजत नहीं थी। यदि आपको एक पेड़ पर हमला करना है तो आप भले जड़ों पर निशाना न लगाएं कम से कम तने तक तो जाएंगे। लेकिन हमें कहा गया था सिर्फ टहनियों और पत्तियों पर हमला करो। वो भी उन पत्तियों पर जो हमारे इलाके में हैं।"

- "27 मई 1999 को हमारी स्क्वाड्रन के सेकंड इन कमांड स्क्वाड्रन लीडर अजय आहूजा के एयरक्राफ्ट को स्टिंगर मिसाइल के जरिए दुश्मन ने गिरा दिया था। अजय तब फ्लाइट लेफ्टिनेंट के. नचिकेता को ढूंढने निकले थे। नचिकेता का विमान क्रैश हुआ था। वह सुरक्षित बाहर निकल आए थे, पर लापता थे। उन्हें ढूंढते हुए आहूजा दुर्भाग्य से दुश्मन की मिसाइल के निशाने पर आ गए।"

- "एयरफोर्स का मानना है कि अजय विमान से सुरक्षित बाहर निकले थे। उन्हें दुश्मन ने पकड़ लिया और हत्या कर दी। दो दिन बाद उनका शव हमें सौंपा गया। गले और दिल पर गोलियों के निशान मिले थे। वह मेरी यूनिट के लिए सबसे दुखद दिन था। हमें आहूजा पर गर्व है, जिन्होंने एयरफोर्स के मूल्यों और परंपरा को कायम रखा और अदम्य साहस दिखाते हुए अपने साथी को बचाने की कोशिश की।"

आहूजा की शहादत ने और हौसला दिया

- धनोवा ने कहा, "आहूजा की शहादत ने हमें और ज्यादा ताकत के साथ हमला करने को प्रेरित किया। वो भी तब तक, जब तक कि दुश्मन का सफाया न कर दें। हमारा स्क्वाड्रन दुश्मन की पोजिशन के फोटो लेने लगा और दिए गए टारगेट पर बम गिराने लगा। ऑपरेशन खत्म हुआ तो गोल्डन ऐरो इतिहास बना चुका था। हमारे विमान 100% काम कर रहे थे। हमने कई नाइट स्ट्राइक मिशन पूरे किए थे।"

- "ये पहला मौका था जब मिग-21 ने पहाड़ी इलाकों में नाइट मिशन चलाए थे। हम अपना एक फाइटर पायलट खो चुके थे, पर मुश्किल हालात में जीत कर आए थे। हमारा स्क्वाड्रन सबसे डेकोरेटेड यूनिट बन गया था। यूनिट को एक वीर चक्र (मरणोपरांत), एक जंग सेवा मेडल, दो एयरफोर्स मेडल और दो मेंशन इन डिस्पेचेस भी दिए किए गए। मैं बस यही कहूंगा कि ये मशीन के पीछे मौजूद सैनिक का प्रोफेशनलिज्म और लीडरशिप है, जो आपको जीत दिलवाती है।"

Trade between Srinagar, Muzaffarabad suspended

Srinagar: Trade across the Line of Control (LoC) between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad was suspended on Tuesday after authorities in Pakistan-administered Kashmir said no trade will take place this week.

Authorities at the Trade Facilitation Centre near the border town of Uri in Baramulla district said they had received a letter from authorities in Pakistan saying there would be no cross-LoC trade this week.

Police on the Indian side last week arrested a driver, Muhammad Yusuf Shah from Chakoti near Muzaffarabad, after recovering 66 kg of narcotics from boxes in his vehicle.

Srinagar is the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir while Muzaffarabad is the capital of the Pakistan-administered Kashmir.

उत्तर प्रदेश विधानसभा में विपक्ष का अनोखा कदम, चलाया अलग सदन

लखनऊ (जेएनएन)। उत्तर प्रदेश के विधानमंडल सत्र में आज की तारीक इतिहास बन गई है। आज विधानभवन में विपक्षी विधायकों ने अलग सदन चलाकर सेंट्रल हाल में भाजपा के विधायक मथुरा प्रसाद पाल को श्रद्धांजलि दी। इसमें समाजवादी पार्टी के साथ ही बहुजन समाज पार्टी, कांग्रेस व राष्ट्रीय लोकदल के विधायक थे।आज विधानसभा में दिवंगत विधायक मथुरापाल को विपक्ष की गैर मौजूदगी में श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित करने के बाद सदन 26 जुलाई तक स्थगित।                        

सरकार के विरोध में आज लखनऊ के विधान भवन में विपक्ष ने अपना अलग सदन बना लिया। मानसून सत्र में विपक्ष लगातार विरोध कर रहा है। सरकार को घेरने की कोशिशों के बीच आज विधान मंडल सत्र के दौरान सदन में जो दृश्य देखने को मिला वो किसी नाटक का भाग लग रहा था लेकिन नाटक नहीं सच्चाई यही है।

विधानसभा की कार्यवाही का बहिष्कार कर रहें विपक्ष ने समानांतर सदन चलाकर शोकसभा आयोजित की और दिवंगत विधायक मथुरा पाल को श्रद्धांजलि दी। अध्यक्ष की भूमिका लालजी वर्मा ने निभाई और नेता सदन अजय कुमार लल्लू बने। नेता विरोधी दल राम गोविंद चौधरी ने बताया कि शोक प्रस्ताव भेजा जाएगा।

सदन में भाजपा विधायक मथुरा पाल श्रद्धांजलि को दी गई। सेंट्रल हाल में मथुरा पाल को श्रद्धांजलि दी गई। इसी बीच रामगोविंद चौधरी ने कहा कि सत्ता पक्ष सदन में धमका रहा है। सत्ता पक्ष डरा रहा है इस वजह से सदन की कार्रवाही से बहिष्कार कर दिया। 

उधर सरकार ने भाजपा विधायक मथुरा पाल के निधन की सूचना के बाद विधानसभा को कल तक के लिए स्थगित कर दिया है। विपक्षी दलों ने विधानसभा सत्र बहिष्कार का कर ही रखा है। मानसून सत्र में अब सिर्फ दो विभाग का पेश होना है। इस बार सदन में सरकार व विपक्ष में टकराव बरकरार है। विपक्ष आज भी सदन की कार्यवाही में शामिल नहीं है।

US provides Pakistan Army latest explosive detectors

Islamabad: The US has provided more than 50 sophisticated hand-held explosive detectors to Pakistan Army to combat terrorism, the American embassy said here on Wednesday.

The Fido X3 explosive detectors were provided by the embassy's Office of the Defense Representative Pakistan (ODRP) under a USD 128 million counter-explosive initiative.

The shipment of Fido devices is part of an ongoing USD 128 million initiative funded by the US government to assist the Pakistan Army in defeating illegal explosives, the embassy said in a statement.

The US-Pakistan counter-explosive assistance programme includes armoured vehicles, bomb disposal robots, training, and the construction of a laboratory allowing for detailed analysis of explosive samples.

In recognition of the sacrifices made by Pakistani military personnel in the line of duty, the US and Pakistan are also partners in a programme to support amputees, the statement said.

This partnership will provide specialised medical equipment and training to allow Pakistan Army medical technicians to manufacture prosthetic limbs to improve the quality of an amputee's life, it added.

Calcutta High Court judge Justice CS Karnan refuses medical test by Supreme Court, calls it 'mad order by mad judges'

Kolkata: Calcutta High Court judge Justice C.S. Karnan on Thursday here refused to be examined by a medical team, as ordered by the Supreme Court, terming it a "mad order passed by mad judges".

Karnan said he is mentally fit.

A seven-judge Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar on Monday directed the constitution of a medical board to examine Karnan on May 4 and submit the evaluation report on May 8.

Karnan has been engaged in an over three-month long confrontation with the apex court. He is facing contempt charges for degrading the judiciary and making allegations of corruption against several Supreme Court judges.
